There’s a Chair in There
May 3 @ 2:00 pm – 4:30 pm
May 3 @ 2:00 pm – 4:30 pm

Bright Theatre Company will present their second collection of ‘One Act Plays’ at the Courthouse for the Autumn Festival this year. This collaboration will be in readiness for their Spring Australian Drama to be presented in September!
‘There’s a chair in there, a collaboration of three one act plays with a common thread of chairs. Chairs symbolise relaxation but also seats of power and status. A space for self-reflection, gathering and purposeful exchanges. All of the above! We invite our audience to take a ‘chair’ and join us on our journey of dynamic power play, black comedy, familial absurdity and farcical satire.

Mr. Owen’s Providence (Gavin Critchley)
A dark comedy on a sun filled Spring day, two very different men meet in a park to finalise an agreement. It should be a simple exchange of services, but they soon find they both have a problem – each other!
Husband Murderers Support Group (Hugh O’Brien)
One-act, two murders, and three women! A fun, rollicking farce, with three very different women supporting each other’s commonality. This very contemporary Australian comedy proves that cunning trumps stunning every time!
Three Chairs (Roger Gimblett)
An Australian farce centred around newlyweds who have recently moved into their new home. What should be an intimate celebration of their newfound independence, turns into a chaotic night of dramatic hilarity.
